Ozzies at the Solheim Cup
There are not many Ozzies at the Solheim Cup but Ozziegolf found one striding down the fairways.
Amongst the Blue and Yellow, and Red White and Blue, there are not many Ozzies walking the fairways of Bernardus Golf at the Solheim Cup 2026.
On the morning of day 2 the first match out was World no. 1 Nelly Korda and Allisen Corpuz up against the Swedish pair of Linn Grant and Maja Stark. Every match has a rules official walking with the group to rule on relief, hazards etc. Walking with this stellar group was Graeme Phillipson, COO of Golf NSW.
As I walked down the first fairway, I recognised Phillipson and we spend a few holes chatting about the tournament, the venue and the match he was refereeing. It was a stellar display of golf with the Europeans running out winners 3&2 and Philipson with the honour of announcing the result.
Philipson will be the TV referee for the Saturday afternoon session and will be a referee for one of the singles matches on Sunday. So, as well as cheering for the players, if you see the Ozzie striding down the fairway be a little proud that Australia is playing its part in the Solheim Cup.
