WEEK 2 – WEEKLY WRAP
WEEK 2 of 2026 saw the comeback and redemption of Anthony Kim on LIV and another win for a young Ozzie on the rise.
WPGA & PGA TOUR of AUSTRALASIA
Tournament: Webex Players Series Perth hosted by Minjee and Min Woo Lee
Dates: 8-11 January
Course: Royal Fremantle GC
Purse: AUD $250,000
A wonderful week in WA with superstar siblings Minjee and Min Woo Lee hosting this Webex Players Series event. Connor McKinney ran away with the tournament which is ideal preparation for his next stint on the DP World Tour.
Apart from the winner the story of the tournament was the performance of Abbie Teasdale. After a difficult 2025, the young West Australian had seriously considered walking away from the professional game. A grinding season on the secondary LETAS tour tested her resolve but this performance should serve as a timely reminder that she is good enough to complete at this level and, hopefully, she will continue her professional career.
Another positive was the continued good form of Kirsten Rudgeley as she prepares for her 2026 campaign on the LET.
Perhaps the shot of the week was the final approach by junior competitor Kortni Houston who holed out with her second shot on the par five 18th to give her a one shot win in the junior division.

Starting in round 2 – Christopher Wood, Ben Campbell (NZ), Matt Jones,
Canadian Richard T. Lee finished on top with Swede Bjorn Hellgren and USA’s Anthony Kim rounding out eh top three. The major story line, however, was Kim’s return to LIV following relegation last season, marking a significant turning point in his professional resurgence.
There were no Ozzie’s in the top three but Matt Jones, Cory Crawford, Chris Wood, and WA Open winner Ollie Bekker all finished inside the top ten. That result earns them auto entry into this years Asian Tour Invitational Series tournaments.
Whilst Crawford and Wood will return to the Ozzie tour. it will be interesting to see where Matt Jones plays his golf in 2026.

Australian Master of the Amateurs
Played at Southern Golf Club over four rounds the Australian Master of the Amateurs brings together top amateurs from around the country and the world. This year the winners of the women’s and men’s were local Ozzies, Reagon Denton and Abel Eduard.
Denton, who has committed to Louisiana State University (LSU) this year, currently sits at 51 on the WAGR and this result should push into the top 50 in the world. Denton’s opening round 66 set a new course record at Southern GC.
