OZZIE WINNER ALERT – Lion Higo has been playing on the main JLPGA Tour this season with marginal success having only made three cuts in fifteen tournaments. So she stepped back to the secondary Step Up Tour and in her first outing fired off three rounds in the sixties, 68, 68, and a blistering bogey free -9 final round of 63 to win by two shots. Great work Lion.

After two days it looked like Lottie Woad might go better than last year’s T3 as she led into the weekend. Haeran Ryu had other ideas and an 11 under 60 on Saturday catapulted her to the lead into Sunday.

Ryu’s Saturday putter deserted her on Sunday when she went birdie free until the 72nd hole. Meanwhile Brooke Henderson was making 2 eagles including a hole in one. Thus the final group of Akai Awai, Ryu and Henderson arrived at the ultimate hole with Ryu and Awai at 17 under par leading by one shot from Henderson. By the time the trio had reached the green Awai and Ryu had birdie putts and Henderson had an eagle putt.

Awai went first and missed her birdie putt. Next was Ryu who holed her birdie putt to put her in the lead and two ahead of Henderson. Then up stepped Henderson and drained her putt for her third eagle of the day and sending herself and Ryu into a playoff.

At the playoff Henderson could not repeat her heroics of the 72nd hole whilst Ryu made another birdie to take her second consecutive Major after claiming the KPMG PGA Championship last month.

Best of the Australasians was Lydia Ko who closed with a Sunday 64 to finish in a tie for seventh. Karis Davidson and Cassie Porter finished T26.

Tom Kim continues his resurgence with a win at Renaissance. Kim beat Ozzie Min Woo Lee by two shots. Kim closed with a bogey free -6 final round 64 to take the victory, his first in nearly three years. Lee’s closing 67 saw him take solo second place with Robert MacIntyre and Keita Nakajima dn Johnny Keefer a further two shots back in a tie for third. A nice made cut for Cam Davis although he strangely goes backwards in FedexCup standings and valuable FedexCup points for Karl Vilips who goes up three places to 119.

Haylee Harford Sanchez final round tied the 18-hole tournament scoring record of 9-under 63 and broke the 54-hole tournament scoring record by three shots with her finishing the tournament at 15-under par to take the title.

Best of the Ozzies was Jennifer Elliott at T18 which moved up a couple of places in the OOM to 29th. Caitlin Peirce missed the cut and dropped five places in the OOM to 28th.

Another first time winner, this time it was Lars van der Vight. The Dutchman had a one shot win over Frenchman Julien Sale. Van der Vight’s Friday 59 set up the victory. A great tournament for Ozzie Quinnton Croker who finished in a tie for third gaining valuable OOM points moving up 193 places to 73rd.
