An emotional win for Nacho Elvira who won by a single shot over Kiwi Dan Hillier. A great final round 65 from Hillier wasn’t enough for the Kwi to catch Elvira. For Shane Lowry it was another lesson in ‘it’s hard to win golf tournaments.’ Leading by one playing the final hole Lowry put his approach into the bunker and then splashed out too strongly and saw his ball run into the penalty area. Ultimately a double bogey saw him finish T3 with Rory McIlroy, Julien Gurrier and David Puig.

Daniel Hiller 2nd – €258,404
Julien Gurrer T3 – €113,267

Lots of drama in the men’s tournament and a steady hand in the women’s tournament saw two experienced winners in the Victorian Open.
Lydia Hall showed a steady, patient hand as she navigated the final round for an even par 72 and a 3 shot victory. Hall played beautifully controlled golf in extremely difficult conditions. Kelsey Bennett, three shots behind at the beginning of the day, made too many errors to mount a challenge and Kathryn Norris hung in with a steady day to tie Bennett for second.
In the men’s tournament Nathan Barbieri had his own episode of ‘it’s hard to win golf tournaments’. He started the day with a five shot lead and ended the day losing on the first playoff hole. Barbieri had a 3 shot lead with 3 holes to play. He played those three holes 2 over and the ultimate winner, Cameron John, played them in 1 under par to force a playoff. In the playoff Barbieri continued his nervous play taking three to get down from just over the green whilst John got up and down for a birdie and the win. Winning is hard and unfortunately Barbieri is learning that in spades this season.
This result sees Christopher Wood retain his position at the top of the OOM and John climbing to second position and Barbieri goes up to fifth.

Kathryn Norris T2 - $17,000
