Shane Lowry left the field in his tracks winning by eleven shots to claim his home open for the second time. Lowry first won the event 17 years ago as an amateur in 2009 at County Louth.
The popular? Irishman had a not surprising moment in round 3 on the 18th tee when he sprayed his tee shot which hit a spectator and Lowry was caught on a mic saying the spectator deserved to get hit. Lowry tried to defend his outburst by blaming the marshals instead. Really Shane – perhaps keep the ball on the fairway and be better towards the volunteer marshals and the paying public.
Best of the Ozzies/Kiwi’s was Kazuma Kobori at T14. A good week for David Micheluzzi who not only made the cut but finished a very credible T23 to make some cash and points.
