Scotsman Callum Hill could not hang and it was Freddy Schott who claimed the win on the second play-off hole. Hill held a one shot lead playing the final hole and the nerves were clearly getting the better of him. A poor second left him an almost impossible two putt. The ensuing bogey left him tied with last week’s winner Patrick Reed and Schott at -17.

On the first playoff hole Reed drove into the fairway bunker and then compounded the problem by hitting the lip on his second shot. Ultimately, he conceded and was out of the playoff. Hill and Schott then returned to 18th tee for another shot at the title. Hill could barely bring himself to hit the tee shot and his anxiety was clear for all to see. He proceeded to snap hook his drive out of bounds and then shank his approach to the green. With Schott already on the green it was game over and a debut win for the German.

Freddy Schott 1st - €392,282

Daniel Hiller (NZ) T4 – €106,628
