The script played out perfectly as hometown here Jeeno Thitikul won the Honda LPGA Thailand. It was not easy street for the Thai superstar as one half of the Japanese twin Iwai sisters, Chizzy, pushed Thitikul all the way. But in the end it was a dream tournament for the LPGA who have had Nelly Korda win the season opener in USA and Thitikul win in Thailand.

The Ozzies made a good start but could not come home on the weekend. Best finisher was Hannah Green who finished with a four under 68 on the final day to finish seventh.

Another young gun wins on the WPGA as Victorian 17 year old Amelia Harris won the final Women’s NSW Open regional qualifying event. Harris had a bogey free final round 67 to win by one shot from Korea’s Jeongmin Cho. Both players earn entry to the Ford NSW Women’s Open staring 26 February at Wollongong GC.

American Austen Truslow overcame a slow start on Sunday to hold off 17 year old Kiwi amateur Cooper Moore. Truslow who has been mentored by Ozzie former PGA Tour pro Nick O’Hern rallied after a poor front nine to have a four under back nine and eventually register a comfortable three shot win over Moore.

Austen Truslow 1st – $ no idea as the Australasian Tour and the European Legends Tour remains the only tours in the world that do not publish prizemoney.

Tournament: The Genesis Invitational

Dates: 19 – 22 February

Course: The Riviera Country Club

Further proof that it is hard to win golf tournaments. Jacob Bridgeman started the final day with a six shot lead. The American had to withstand rallies from Kurt Kitayama (64) Rory McIlroy (67), and Adam Scott (63) which made his one over 72 look pretty shaky coming down the stretch. But he was able to par the last and hang on for his first PGA Tour win.

Scottie Scheffler failed to finish in the top ten for the first time in 19 tournaments. The best of the Ozzies was aforementioned Adam Scott who finished fourth.

A wire to wire first DP World Tour victory for Casey Jarvis at the Magical Kenya Open. A brilliant closing round 62 gave Jarvis a three shot victory. He was able to hold off American Davis Bryant whose 64 was not enough to catch Jarvis.

The Ozzies the best finish was Jason Scrivener who finished T23.

South African Ollie Bekker recorded his second win in four months following his victory in the WA Open in October last year. Bekker carded a final round 67 to win by four shots from Swede Christofer Blomstrand.

Welshman Jamie Donaldson hit an exquisite second shot 5 iron from 205 years into his final hole to set up a three foot birdie putt to win by one fellow former Ryder Cup player Stephen Galacher. Ozzie Scot Hend held the lead through nine holes but faded over his back nine to finish T5.
