WEEK 11 – WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK

LET & WPGA

Tournament: Australian Women’s Open

Dates: 12-15 March

Course: Kooyonga GC Adelaide

Purse: AUD $1.7M

Ozzies in the field: Hannah Green, Minjee Lee, Grace Kim, Steph Kyriacou, Cassie Porter, Kelsey Bennett, Kirsten Rudgeley, Madison Hinson-Tolchard, Justice Bosio, Steph Bunque and lots more

The biggest tournament of the year for women in Australia, The Australian Women's Open kicks off at Kooyonga GC in Adelaide this week. The big names: Minjee Lee, Hannah Green and Grace Kim have flown in together with fellow LPGA players Steph Kyriacou, Cassie Porter and Karis Davidson.

Kooyonga is looking perfect and hopefully the weather finally does the right thing so the golf can shine.

There hasnt been an Ozzie winner of our national open for 12 years so hopefully the drought is broken this week. Most likely are probably the big guns like, Lee, Green and Kim but there is plenty of quality in our other Ozzie ranks with the likes of Kelsey Bennett and young gun Hannah Reeve. Steph Kyriacou doesn't seem to be in good form but golf is a funny game and it can all turn around in a week.

PGA Tour of Australasia

Tournament: The Heritage

Dates: 12-15 March

Course: The Heritage Golf and Country Club

Purse: AUD $250k

Ozzies in the field:

The penultimate event in the Challenger Tour of Australasia calendar. The real interest is the OOM and who gets the coveted DP World Tour card for finishing in first place. With his win in last week's event Travis Smyth is in pole position and probably only has to make the cut in the last two events to hold on to first spot. To unseat him someone is going to have to finish very high on the leader board two weeks in a row and have Smyth fall over.

PGA Tour

Tournament: The Players Championship

Dates: 12 – 15 March

Course: TPC Sawgrass, Stadium Course

Purse: USD $25M

Ozzies in the field: Jason Day, Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott, Cam Davis, Karl Vilips, Ryan Fox (NZ)

Not the fifth major but a massive tournament in any event. This will be some of the best golf played at one of the great course that we will see this year. There have been five Ozzie winners, Elkington (1991, 1997), Greg Norman (1994), Adam Scott (2004), Jason Day (2016 and Cam Smith (2022).
