What's On This Week

What's on this Week - Week 18

Phillip Gibson

Another signature event on the PGA Tour without Rory but with Alex Fitzpatrick and McLaren Golf. The DP World Tour Asian swing wraps up in Turkiye and the LPGA and LET both play in paradise.

What's on this Week - Week 18

LPGA

Tournament: Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba

Dates: 30 April – 3 May

Course: El Camaleon Golf Course at Mayakoba

Purse: USD $2.5M

Ozzies in the field: Gabbi Ruffels, Hira Naveed, Sarah Kemp

Not many Ozzies teeing it up for this tournament but excellent to see Sarah Kemp get a start. One thing that tells you is that there are only a few of the top eighty playing. Only seventeen of last year’s top eighty are playing this week. One of those is Nelly Korda who is backing up after her win at The Chevron and Chizzy Iwai returns to defend her title.

EPSON TOUR

Tournament: Carlisle Arizona Women’s Golf Classic

Dates: 30 April – 3 May

Course: TPC Scottsdale, Champions Course

Purse: USD $400,000

Ozzies in the field: Jennifer Elliot, Caitlin Peirce, Fiona Xu (NZ), Jennifer Whitting

LET

Tournament: MCB Ladies Classic Mauritius

Dates: 1 – 3 May

Course: Constance Belle Mare Plage (The Legend Course)

Purse:€400,000

Ozzies in the field: Kirsten Rudgeley, Madison Hinson-Tolchard, Justice Bosio

Only three Ozzies this week as Kelsey Bennett is not playing and Steph Bunque has not made the trip to Africa.

This is a new tournament for the LET and should be a popular stop if social media posts of competitors and the LET itself are any indications with lots of images of crystal clear water and beaches.

PGA Tour

Tournament: Cadillac Championship

Dates: 30 April – 3 May

Course: Trump National Dural, Blue Monster Course

Purse: USD $20M

Ozzies in the field: Jason Day, Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott, Karl Vilips, Ryan Fox (NZ)

Another signature event where there is no cut, so everyone makes money and points to cement their place in the rankings. Rory McIlroy obviously does not need money or points as he has chosen to sit out his second signature event in a row.

Perhaps the most interesting thing this week will be to see Justin Rose sporting his new livery of Papaya Orange as he debuts his new McLaren Golf gear. Although Rose may be relegated from top story by Alex Fitzpatrick making his first start on the PGA Tour as a member following his win at The Zurich last week with his brother Matt.

PGA Champions Tour

The DP World Tour might be in Europe, but it is technically the last event of the Asian Swing and big rewards are on offer for the players at the top of the Asian Swing OOM after this tournament. The top place gets a bonus of USD $200,000 and guaranteed entry to all the Back Nine Events with increased prize pools and points on offer. The top three placegetters also get entry into the US PGA at Aronimink. Finally, the player highest in the rankings, not already exempt, gets a place in the Genesis Scottish Open, a Rolex event.
