PGA Champions Tour & Legends Tour

Tournament: The US Senior Open Championship

Dates: 2-5 July

Course: Scioto Country Club, Columbia IO

Purse: USD $4.0M

Ozzies in the field: Steve Allan, Steve Alker (NZ), Stuart Appleby, David Bansdon, Greg Chalmers, Richard Green, Scott Hend, Mark Hensby, Brendan Jones, Cam Percy, Michael Wright, Michael Campbell (NZ)

This week’s major is on the Champions Tour. We have been saying it all season but surely with the number of Ozzies on this tour we must get a win at some stage and what better time to do it than at the US Senior Open.

Greg Chalmers led going into the final round of the Senior PGA in 2024 so let’s see if he can rekindle that kind of form from 2 years ago on. Most likely however is kiwi Steve Alker who, although not in the same form as previous years, looks best placed of the Australasians to get the job done.

LET

Tournament: Hulencourt Women’s Open

Dates: 2-5 July

Course: Vieux Gennappe, Belgium

Purse:€350,000

Ozzies in the field: Kelsey Bennett, Kirsten Rudgeley, Madison Hinson-Tolchard, Justice Bosio, Steph Bunque, Sarah Kemp, Belinda Ji, Whitney Hillier, Amelia Garvey (NZ), Momoka Kobori (NZ),

The final hitout for the European based players before the Amundi Evian Championship next week. Kelsey Bennett is back in action and will be looking to regain her early season form. Justice Bosio has had a really good couple of weeks so she will look to continue her great run. Important for Sarah Kemp to keep making cuts to accumulate OOM points before the next re-shuffle and for the same reason Steph Bunque needs to channel her form from Australia earlier this year and her top ten finish in France last month.

LETAS

Tournament: Swedish Strokeplay

Dates: 1-3 July

Course: Golf Uppsala Soderby

Purse: €50,000

Ozzies in the field: Kristalle Blum, Jordan O’Brien, Hanee Song (NZ), Munchin Keh (NZ), Wenyung Keh (NZ)

LETAS returns to Uppsala, a university town where many young Ozzies spend a semester and explore Europe for six months. Jordan O’Brien makes her second start and will be hoping to improve from last week. Kristalle Blum returns after playing Blitz Golf in the UK last week.

PGA Tour

Tournament: John Deere Classic

Dates: 2-5 July

Course: TPC Deere Run

Purse: USD $8.8M

Ozzies in the field: Karl Vilips

All the big guns are jetting off to Europe to start the European swing of the PGA Tour culminating in The Open. It is only Karl Vilips left to represent the Ozzies at the tournament with great tee markers, The John Deere Classic.

DP World Tour

Tournament: BMW International Open

Dates: 2-5 July

Course: Golfclub Munchen Eichenried, Munich, Germany

Purse: USD $3.0M

Ozzies in the field: Jason Scrivener, David Micheluzzie, Ryan Peake, Anthony Quayle, Connor McKinney, Jack Buchanan, Dan Hillier (NZ), Kazuma Kobori (NZ)

The final tournament of the European Swing and it is a classic. This is a great tournament on a really good course. Kazuma Kobori had a great outing last year at this event finishing third with a closing eight under par 63.

David Micheluzzie got to play on the weekend last week in Italy so he will be looking to accumulate some more OOM points. Disappointing result last week from Scrivener, Quayle and Hillier, all of whom will be looking to bounce back this week in Germany. Jack Buchanan will be hoping to carry his good form from Italy into this week.

Hotel Planner Tour

Tournament: Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge

Dates: 2-5 July

Course: Golf PGA France du Vaudreuil

Purse: €300,000

Ozzies in the field: Austin Batista, Quinnton Croker, Sam Jones (NZ)

A lot of national invites in the field this week which means no starts for the two Hayd(e)n’s, Barron and Hopewell. However Austin Batista gets an invite and continues his European adventure after playing Blitz Golf last week in London

KLPGA

Tournament: The 16th LOTTE Open

Dates: 2-5 July

Course: Bear’s Best Cheongna (USA & Australasia)

Purse: KRW1,200,000,000

Ozzies in the field: Claire Shin
