WEEK 3 – WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK

WEEK 3 and the golf season picks up with the start of the PGA Tour season and the news that Brooks Koepka is BACK on the Tour. No Brooks this week -he makes his first start on Jan 29 at The Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines. The Korn Ferry Tour continues its swing in the Bahamas and The DP World Tour kicks off the International swing in Dubai. In Oz the WPGA and Challenger Tour of Australasia are at 13th Beach for the Victorian Open.

PGA Tour

Tournament: Sony Open

Dates: 15-18 January 2026

Course: Waialae Country Club Honolulu

Purse: USD $9.1M

Ozzies in the field: Cam Davis, Adam Scott

The PGA Tour finally kicks off this week after the cancellation of the usual season opener, The Sentry at Kapalua. No doubt the chat on the range this week will be the return of five time Major winner, Brooks Koepka to the PGA Tour. When the golf starts then there is plenty to follow; How will the DP World Tour guys perform, how will all the big names play and of course how will our Ozzie men go? Hopefully Davis and Scott can get a good start to the season.

Korn Ferry Tour

Tournament: The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic.

Dates:

Course: The Abaco Club

Purse: USD $1.0M

Ozzies in the field: Harry Hillier (NZ), Rhein Gibson (alt)

The KFT continues its swing in the Bahamas this week with another Sunday start. Rhein Gibson was an alternate last week and got a start so hopefully he gets another run this week.

DP World Tour

Tournament: Dubai Invitational

Dates: 15-18 January

Course: Dubai Creek Resort

Purse: USD $2.75M

Ozzies in the field: Ryan Fox (NZ), Daniel Hillier (NZ),

A limited field event to get the International Swing underway in Dubai. Tommy Fleetwood chooses to play this tournament and not the PGA Tour opener in Hawaii. A very interesting course particularly the island tee box on the 6th. Our Ozzie boys have to wait until next week to start their 2026.

WPGA and PGA TOUR of AUSTRALASIA

Tournament: Victorian Open

Dates: 15-18 January

Course: 13th Beach

Purse: AUD $200,000 for each winner

Since 2012 this tournament has been two for one. There are separate tournaments for the men and women with equal prizemoney. The race for the men’s OOM resumes and for the first time in 2026 we will see some of our best women tee it up. Look out for Ozzie LET players Kelsey Bennet, Justice Bosio, Madison Hinson-Tolchard and Steph Bunque, young gun Hannah Reeve, amateur superstar Reagon Denton, and visiting LET players Lydia Hall (Wales) and Momoko Kabori (NZ), and of course two-time major winner and regular visitor to Australia, Jiyai Shin.
