DP World Tour

Tournament: Omega European Masters

Course: Crans-sur-Sierre GC, Crans Montana, Switzerland

Purse: USD $3.75M

Ozzies in the field: Jason Scrivener, David Micheluzzie, Ryan Peake, Anthony Quayle, Connor McKinney, Jack Buchanan, Dan Hillier (NZ)

Generally regarded as the most picturesque venues on the schedule but not really one of the best courses. This week will see plenty of vision of snow capped mountains and ball flights against scenic backdrops.

Interesting to see where some LIV players are landing. In Switzerland this week Paul Casey, David Puig, Sergio Garcia and Adrian Meronk. Invitations also to Miguel Angel Jiminez and John Daly II.

Everyone of our Ozzies needs to make the cut and get some points. Scrivener and Quayle need good results to get back into the top 100. Scrivener is currently 106 and Quayle is at 130. Peake (157), Micheluzzi (159), Buchanan (162) & McKinney (169) basically need to win or have incredibly high finishes in the remaining eight events to retain status next season.

The first tournament for Danny List since he retired from the Challenge do Catalunya in May, so might have been out with injury. Only Daniel Gale is playing from the regular list of Ozzies with some going over to DP World Q school.

Amateur Tournaments

Walker Cup

Started in 1922 the Walker Cup is one of the best team amateur golf events for men. It pits teams of ten from the USA and Great Britain and Ireland (GB&I) against one another over two days of competition. The format is foursomes in the morning and singles in the afternoon for each day. The difference being that on Saturday there are only eight singles matches whilst on Sunday all ten players from each team compete.

The USA hold the cup winning decisively 17-9 at Cypress Point in 2025. Thus the USA only need 13 points to retain the cup and GB&I need 13.5 points to regain the trophy.

This year the cup is being held at Lahinch Golf Club in the Republic of Ireland. Originally designed by Old Tom Morris and redesigned by Alister Mackenzie in 1927 it is a wonderous example of links golf.
