This is perhaps the premier event of the DP World Tour outside the playoffs. The field is stacked and includes: Adam Scott, Joaquin Niemann, Adrian Meronk, Kristoffer Reitan, Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy, Ryuan Fox, Tyrell Hatton, Jon Rahm, Shane Lowry, Matt Fitzpatrick, Justin Rose, Alex Fitzpatrick, David Puig, Brooks Koepka, Sepp Straka & Tommy Fleetwood.

EPSON TOUR

Tournament: Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout

Dates: 18-20 September

Course: Mystic Creek Golf Club

This is the last tournament before the Epson Tour Championship so our Ozzies need to do something spectacular to get into the top 15 on the OOM. Jennifer Elliott and Caitlin Peirce sit 30th and 29th respectively and Kiwi Fionz Xu is just behind them at 33rd. They will all need a win or close to it to earn promotion to the LPGA.

The LET resumes after the Solheim Cup and the Tour heads to France for the La Sella Open in Spain. This tournament is quite unique for the absence of sponsors and their advertising. The golf club is the sole sponsor of the tournament.

One of the consequences of this is that there is no need to satisfy the corporate types by having a pro-am. Golf is the only sport where the professionals have to spend up to four hours with three total strangers, most who are bad at golf, the day before they start a tournament. There is also the added benefit this week of a prize pool of €1,000,000 with the winner taking home a handy €150,000

The Ozzies will be focussed on hitting form in the run into the end of the season. The top 70 retain their card for next season and the top 0 get exemption into the LPGA Q School final stage.

Steph Bunque fell out of the current year top 70 and subsequently dropped down into category 14 following the second re-shuffle. She has not entered this week or next at the Italian Open and is currently 2nd Reserve for the Aramco event in Korea.

Whitney Hillier is staging a great battle to remain in the top 70 and get her full status back next season following 3 years of illness.

Tournament: Lavaux Ladies Open

Dates: 16-18 September

Course: Golf de Lavaux

Purse: €53,000

Hannah Reeves had another good finish last week and she will be looking to repeat that performance to keep edging up the OOM. Kristalle Blum will need something more dramatic to improve enough to challenge the top seven.

PGA Tour

Tournament: Biltmore Championship Asheville

Dates: 17-20 September

Course: The Cliffs at Walnut Cove

Purse: USD $5.0M

Ozzies in the field: Cam Davis, Karl Vilips

The top 50 players on the FedexCup points list cannot earn points in these tournaments and their positions cannot change. That means places 51 and up are up for grabs over the next eight tournaments. At the end of that stretch players ranked 51-100 will have full status next season although that term is conditional as it there are different exemptions for various signature events.

The interest in these tournaments is not necessarily the winning but who is sitting on the 100 bubble and the 125 bubble. Positions 101-125 earn conditional status next season.

As for the Ozzies, Cam Davis comes into the fall season starting at 191 so he needs to come into a lot of good form quickly. Karl Vilips is at 129, just outside conditional status territory.

Korn Ferry Tour

Tournament: Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship

Dates: 17-20 September

Course: Ohio State University Golf Club Scarlet Course

Purse: USD $1.5M

No Ozzies in this field as Rhein Gibson did not advance from the 1st playoff tournament last week but as it is the playoffs we will continue to watch the rankings to see who grabs the 15 available cards at the end of the season.
