THE PRESIDENTS CUP

Here we go Ozzie golf fans - the 15th Presidents Cup. There are two Ozzies and a Kiwi in the International team: Min Woo Lee, Adam Scott and Ryan Fox. Can the Internationals take down the USA on their own turf. Read the Ozziegolf preview here.

LPGA

Tournament: Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G

Dates: 25-27 September

Course: Pinnacle Country Club, Rogers, AR

Purse: USD $3.0M

Ozzies in the field: Steph Kyriacou, Cassie Porter, Robyn Choi, Gabbi Ruffels, Hira Naveed

The top Ozzies are giving this week a miss. Hannah Green, Minjee Lee and Grace Kim as well as Karis Davidson all having an extra week’s rest with most getting back into action in Hawaii next week.

Ozzie eyes will be on Steph Kyriacou to see if she can turn her year around and get back on track to keeping her card for next season.

EPSON TOUR

Tournament: Epson Tour championship at Indian Wells

Dates: 1-4 October

Course: Indian Wells Golf Resort, Indian Wells, CA

Purse: USD $

Ozzies in the field: Jennifer Elliott, Caitlin Peirce, Fiona Xu (NZ)

This is the finale of the Epson Tour season and will determine which fifteen players earn their LPGA card for 2027. Those who finish in positions 1-10 will get to play most tournaments on the LOGA while those at 11-15 have more limited opportunities. This tournament has extra points available compared to regular season events so there is plenty to play for.

Going into the week Jennifer Elliott is the best placed Ozzie at 21st on the Race for the Card rankings. Caitlin Peirce starts the week in 30th position and Kiwi Fiona Xu is at 35th. Even for Elliott it is not possible to break into the top 15. She is 195 points behind 15th place and even with the increased points on offer a win would not be sufficient for Elliott to overtake 15th place assuming that person doesn’t earn any points this week. That doesn’t mean that the results this week are meaningless – far from it.

Because it’s back to Q school for our Epson Tour players, where they finish in the standings after this week determines which stage of Q School they can enter. Positions 1-35 get exemption straight into Final State whereas those outside the top 35 have to go through Qualifying Stage.

LET

Tournament: Buccellati Ladies Italian Open

With only five regular season tournaments left time is running out for our Ozzies to secure their cards and playing options for next year. Those goals are different for each player. Kelsey Bennett (currently 3rd) will be looking to maintain her position in the top 10 of the OOM and therefore gain direct entry into the Final Stage of LPGA Q Series

Kirsten Rudgeley is currently in 25th position so will need some strong finishes to get into that top 10. Justice Bosio sits in 35th position and whilst she might be aiming for that top 10 we think that she should be extremely happy with her position which will see her solidify her spot on the main LET, get entry into the season finale where only the top 70 play and then get ready for another full season in Europe before tackling the LPGA Q Series. Both Bosio and Rudgeley would get exemption into Qualifying Stage courtesy of the world ranking.

Maddison Hinson-Tolchard is probably too far out of the top 10 – sitting currently at 47th position. However it has been another solid year for Hinson-Tolchard with three top-tens this season and she will also get to play the season Finale in Spain. If she heads off to LPGA Q School it will be into the Qualifying Stage starting November 19, courtesy of her world ranking as of 1 September which was 288.

Whitney Hillier, Sarah Kemp and Steph Bunque are the player with most to gain and lose in the next six tournaments. Hillier currently sits at 64th, Kemp at 70th and Bunque is in 79th position. The top 70 after the final regular season event will play the season finale in Spain which is when the final rankings will be determined. After the season finale the top 70 retain full playing cards for 2027 in Category 4, and positions 71-80 get category 15 status which is just after of Q School top 20. Anywhere lower than 80 makes getting starts at the beginning of the season difficult and therefore hard to make ground before the first reshuffle of the season.

PGA Tour of Australasia

Tournament: World Sand Greens Championship

This is a non-order of merit tournament but there is still cash to win and most of the regular AUSPGA players are entered.

DP World Tour

Tournament: Fedex Open de France

Dates: 24-27 September

Course: Le Golf National, Saint-Quentin-de Yvelines

Purse: USD $3,75M

Ozzies in the field: Elvis Smylie, Jason Scrivener, David Micheluzzie, Ryan Peake, Anthony Quayle, Connor McKinney, Jack Buchanan, Kazuma Kobori (NZ)

Only five tournaments left four our Ozzies to get the rankings in order to secure playing rights for next season. Micheluzzi (150), Peake (164), Quayle (138), McKinney (173), Buchanan (166) and Scrivener (122) all sit outside the top 100 which is the magical number to retain a DP World Tour playing card next season.

Elvis Smylie (165) also sits outside the top 100 however his exemption for winning the 2024 Australian PGA ends this season so he needs to play himself into that top 100 to secure playing fights for 2027. Smylie did a deal with the DP World Tour in February which will allow him to play as long as he gets some status on the Tour.
