WEEK 42 (16-19 October) – WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK
Week 42 is here with plenty of action on the LPGA, LETAS and WPGA. Can Jusitice Bosio secure her LET card for next season and who of the Ozzie women will get into the co-sanctioned NSW Women’s Open from the qualifier in Wagga. The DP World Tour goes to India and it’s almost the last chance saloon for those trying get one of the coveted PGA Tour cards or those needing to secure their card for next season. It’s the first week of the playoffs on the Champions Tour and plenty of Ozzies are in the field. Here in Oz the men’s Tour stays in WA for the WA Open at Mount Lawley.
LPGA

Dates: 16-19 October

Purse: USD $2.3M
Ozzies in the field: Hannah Green, Minjee Lee, Robyn Choi, Cassie Porter, Karis Davidson, Grace Kim, Sarah Kemp
A new venue for the BMW this year and Hannah Green returns to defend her title. Green much like Nelly Korda as not had the success of last season and is looking to get back on track. At this end of the season much of the interest is in those on the bubble for the top 60 and 80 in the Race top CME Globe and securing tour cards for next year. Top 60 after the Annika (Nov 13-16) get to play in the season ending CME Group Tour Championship and top 80 retain full status for next season. Hannah Green (54), Cassie Porter (58), Robyn Choi (65) and Gabbi Ruffels (67) all need solid weeks to play in the Championship. Karis Davidson (85) and Hira Naveed (106) need good finishes to get into the top 80.

Ozzies in the field: Steve Alker (NZ) , Steve Allen (NZ), Cameron Percy, Richard Green, Mark Hensby, Michael Wright, Greg Chalmers, Rod Pampling, Stuart Appleby, David Bansdon, Brendan Jones.
The first week of the Schwab Cup playoffs for the Champions Tour. A big contingent of Ozzie and Kiwi players teeing it up. The field this week is top 72 from the seasons Schwab Cup Order of Merit. After this week the field is cut to 54 for the Simmons Bank Championship and then 36 the following week for the season finale Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Good finishes required by a couple of our Ozzie players to progress to next week. Rod Pampling (49th) and Stuart Appleby (48th) need solid weeks to play next week and David Bransdon is sitting right on the Bubble at 54th so cant afford any slipups.
DP World Tour
Tournament: DP World India Championship
Course: Delhi GC
Purse:USD $4.0M
Ozzies in the field: Daniel Hillier (NZ), Jason Scrivener, David Micheluzzi
The penultimate event before the DP World Tour Play-Offs. Different players with different objectives as we get to the end of the season. David Micheluzzi has had a rough season and needs to hang in to secure playing rights next year. He enters this tournament in 105th place. Top 115 retain full status nex season so he needs to make cuts this week and next. Elivs Smylie has decided not to play this week and instead is doing promotional work in Australia for BMW. Going into this week he is hanging onto the 10th and final qualifying spot for a PGA tour card for next season. He will probably lose that spot by not playing so is relying on a good week in South Korea next week and then the two play off tournaments in the UAE. Dan Hillier is another within touching distance of one of those PGA Tour cards.
Hotel Planner Tour
Tournament: Hangzhou Open
Course: Hangzhou West Lake GC
Purse:USD $500,000
Ozzies in the field: Danny Lis (NZ), George Worrall, Sam Jones (NZ)
As we get closer to the end of the season the battle for the prize of DP World tour status hots up. Kiwi Sam Jones has just slipped back a bit in the last few weeks so needs a good week to get back into the top 20.
Legends Tour
No tournament this week. UP next week is the Senior Italian Open.
AUS PGA Tour
Tournament: W.A. Open
Course: Mount Lawley GC
Purse:AUD $200,000
The WA Open returns to Mount Lawley for the 11th time but the first since the revamping of the course by OCM. The bigf draw card is Marc Leishman plus the usual great field of Ozzie pros. South African world player Ollie Bekker is an interesting entrant as he is scoping Perth as a new place to live. My pick for OOM winner, Nathan Barbieri will be looking to convert his great early season form into a win.
