WEEK 47 – WHAT’S ON THIS WEEK

LPGA

Tournament: CME Group Tour Championship

Dates: 20 November – 23 November

Course: Tuberón Golf Resort, Naples Florida

Purse: USD $11.0M

Ozzies in the field: Minjee Lee, Hannah Green, Grace Kim, Steph Kyriacou

This is the season ending finale for the women on the LPGA. Only the top sixty from the CME order of merit get to compete for the seaon’s biggest winners cheque of USD $4.0M. Nelly Korda, who had six wins last year, is looking for her first win of the season and what a place to do it if she can pull off the victory. Lydia Ko, the two time winner of this event, returns after some time off chasing the biggest money prize on tour.

With the top sixty all teeing it up this week it will be fantastic viewing to see who claims this title but also some of the other awards on the LPGA. The season scoring award is decided at the end of the week as is the Rolex Player of the Year. Jeeno

Thitikul has a small 15 point lead over Miyu Yamishita heading into the week. The winner gets 30 points so things could be close.

The four Ozzies in the field are all legitimate contenders. Minjee Lee is probably the pick of the Ozzie women. She is already the winner of the Rolex Annika Major Award of the year and she leads the money list heading into the week. Hannah Green has been in excellent form in the last month and Gace Kim had a good showing last week until she fell off in the final round. And we all know that Step[h Kyriacou is capable of shooting the lights out on any given week so it will not be a surprise to see her on top of the leaderboard.

LET

Another week off for the top 70 on the LET before they head back to Spain for the season finale Andalucia Costa Del Sol Open de Espana presented by OYSHO at the Real Guadalhorce Club de Golf starting 27 November 30. Many who didn’t qualify for this tournament will be teeing it up in Q School in December.

WPGA

Nothing on the schedule until 27 November which is the next qualifier for the NSW Open.

PGA Tour

Tournament: The RSM Classic

Dates: 20 November – 23 November

Course: Sea Island Golf Club (Seaside Course), St Simons Island, Georgia

Purse:USD $7.0M

Ozzies in the field: Karl Vilips, Harrison Endycott

The final event of the FedExCup fall season and the last chance for players such as Harrison Endycott to improve up the rankings to get playing rights next season.

Whilst Karl Vilips sits at 100 he is comfortable due to his exemption next season courtesy of his win earlier in this season. He is playing for the win, OWGR points and the cash. Endycott needs a top ten finish to go anywhere near a tour card for next season. He will be playing for some sort of condidtional status and entry into Q School.

Other players of note on or near the 100 mark are Max Houma (101) although he is exempt next year courtesy of previous wins, Matt Wallace (102), Adam Scott (107) [Scott has another your of exemption due to his top 30 finish on the FedExCup rankings in 2024].

Legends Tour

Tournament: Vattanac Legends Championship

Dates: 21 November – 23 November

Course: Vattanac Golf Course, Cambodia

Purse:

Ozzies in the field: Stephen Leaaney, Michael Campbell (NZ), Michael Long (NZ), Mark

Brown (NZ)

The Legends Tour makes its first foray into Cambodia for this tournament. Ozzie Scott Hend, leader of The Legends OOM, not in the field this week as he is teeing it up in the PIF Saudi International powered by Softbank Investment Advisers in Saudi Arabia which is an International Series event on the Asian Tour.

AUS PGA Tour

Tournament: Queensland PGA

Dates: 20 November – 23 November

Course: Nudgee Golf Course

Purse:AUD $250,000

The second big week of tournaments on the Challenger Australian PGA Tour. The Qld PGA returns to the Kurrai Course at Nudgee GC. A pity the tournament is up against the International Series event on the Asian Tour, the PIF Saudi International powered by Softbank Investment Advisers, which has prizemoney of USD $5.0M.

Still plenty of big names in Ozziegolf teeing it up this week at Nudgee. John ‘Senden, Austin Batista and John Lyras all playing off invites this week. Perhaps the players to watch are those up and coming Ozzie’s who are vying for the all important OOM spots which give playing rights in Europe next year. Nathan Barbieri had a solid but uneventful week at the NSW Open last week so it would not surprise to see him back in contention this week.

Asian Tour

Tournament: PIF Saudi International powered by Softbank Investment Advisers

Dates: 19 November – 22 November

Course: Riyadh Golf Club

Purse:USD $5.0M

Ozzies in the Field: Matt Jones, Lucas Herbert, Marc Leishman, Cam Smith, Ryan Peake, Jack Buchanan, Harrison Crowe, Wayde Ormsby, Kevin Yuan, Travis Smyth, Maverick Antcliffe, Scott Hend, Ben Campbell (NZ), Nick Voke (NZ), Denzel Ieremia (NZ)

The last of the International Series events on the Asian Tour this season so plenty of prizemoney and big names, including all the Ozzie LIV Ripper Team, playing in Saudi Arabia this week. Big points on offer for the Internation Series Rankings as well as the big prize pool. As the last International Series event there is plenty at stake as the winner of this OOM gets a ride into LIV land next year.

Scott Vincent from Zimbabwe currently leads on 325.59 points and is just 40.29 points ahead of Japan’s Yosuki Asaji. and 93.31 points ahead of Miguel Tabuena from the Philippines. With 324 points to this week’s winner it looks to be between these three to take out the prize. If all the cards fall in the right place and Wayde Ormsby (195 points) has another win he could snatch the number one spot and get back onto LIV.
