Nikanti Golf Club Thailand

An immaculately presented course with amazing off course facilities.
Nikanti Golf Club
Nikanti Golf Club, located in the Nakhon Province is approximately 1 ½ hour drive west from the centre of Bangkok. The club opened in 2014 and was designed by Pirapon Namatra of Golf East.
On arrival you immediately get the sense that this is a special place. Going into the locker room and there is my locker with a personalised name plate. This is the type of personalised service that Nikanti delivers.

The 18 holes of Nikanti is divided into 3 lots of 6 holes each with a different style. This is called the 6-6-6 concept. It is said that This 6-6-6 concept takes inspiration from the six senses in Buddhism and is part of Nikanti’s brand philosophy. Each set of six holes returns to the clubhouse and comprises two par 3’s, two par 4’s and two par 5 holes.
The first hole is an insight into what is to come on the rest of the course. It is a sweeping right to left dog leg par 5. The green is cut into one of the many water features.

Nikanti is a visually a stunning place. Every blade of grass is manicured and nothing seems out of place. The golf is challenging and there is enough on the6,208 metre layout to make the day interesting. Playing from the white tees at 5,299, metres would make the course much much shorter and probably doesn’t give the true sense of the layout. There is water on 11 of the 18 holes with some of the water features cut into the greens which not only makes approaches challenging but visually stunning.

Another thing to remember about playing golf in Thailand is that generally it is HOT. Some courses will let you walk but we would highly recommend taking a cart if the temperature and humidity are up.
As with most golf in Thailand playing with a caddie is basically compulsory. At Nikanti a caddy is included in the pricing. These caddies do everything from marking the ball on the green to providing distances and club selection suggestions. It takes a bit of getting used to having so many people on the green and surrounding the hole. They don’t stand back and observe. This is something that the average golfer can find hard to get used to as it isn’t what we expect from a caddy. Our experience was mixed with the caddies. Most were great fun and positively added to the golfing experience.

Overall Nikanti is just a wonderful place to play golf. The course is in immaculate condition, there is enough to challenge the good player and plenty to keep the mid-high handicappers entertained. The facilities are world class and the club house balcony is a fantastic place to end the day with a few Singha’s.
